Repeating Variable Sets

Split/Collapse a dataset with repeating group of variables

This dialog is used to split (into multiple datasets) or collapse (into one long dataset) a dataset with repeated set of variables

Example 1:

  • To try this, user may use the sample dataset file called Repeating Variable Sets.xlsx

  • Open the file in the data grid with the file open menu

  • In the dialog - type

  • There will be three datasets created as there are three repeating variable sets. User can type none, one, or more strings for output dataset name suffixes as abcX, abcY, abcZ

  • Keep every other item in the dialog as the default

Example 2:

  • To try this, user may use the sample dataset file called Repeating Variable Sets2.xlsx

  • Open the file in the data grid with the file open menu

  • In the dialog - type

  • There will be four datasets created as there are four repeating variable sets

  • Keep every item in the dialog as the default

User may use the same two sample dataset files to try the option of Collapse in "Split or Collapse the dataset" section of the dialog to create a single output dataset
